Pattern Match dialog box

Use this dialog box to specify that you want to capture only those frames that contain a specific pattern of hexadecimal or ASCII data. You can specify that the pattern can start at the beginning of the frame or that it must be a specified number of bytes (offset) away from the beginning of the frame or the end of the topology header. Specify the offset by using the following controls.

  • Pattern

The hexadecimal or ASCII data pattern that you want captured frames to match.

    • Hex

The specified pattern is read in hexadecimal format. By default, this option is selected.

    • ASCII

The specified pattern is read in ASCII format.

  • Offset (in hex)

The hexadecimal number that specifies where the search should begin. The way Network Monitor interprets this number depends upon whether you click the From Start Of Frame or the From End Of Topology Header option.

    • From Start of Frame

The offset you specify is measured from the beginning of the frame. By default, this option is selected.

    • From End of Topology Header

The offset you specify is measured from the end of the topology header.
