Message Queuing object locations

This table describes where Message Queuing objects are located in Active Directory.

Object name Location

MsmqServices object

The MsmqServices object is displayed in the console tree (usually the left pane) of the Active Directory Sites and Services snap-in in the following location:

  • Active Directory Sites and Services

  • Services

  • MsmqServices

Routing link object

Routing link objects are located under the MsmqServices object in the details pane of the Active Directory Sites and Services snap-in:

  • Active Directory Sites and Services

  • Services

  • MsmqServices

  • Routing link object

MSMQ Settings object

The MSMQ Settings object is displayed in the details pane (usually the right pane) of the Active Directory Sites and Services snap-in when the applicable server object is selected. Server objects are found in the following location:

  • Active Directory Sites and Services

  • Sites

  • YourSiteObject

  • Servers

  • YourServerObject

msmq object

The msmq object and child container objects are displayed in the console tree of the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in in the following location:

  • Active Directory Users and Computers

  • YourDomainObject

  • YourOrganizationalUnitObject (such as Computers or Domain Controllers)

  • YourComputerObject

  • msmq

  • YourQueueFolder (such as Private Queues and System Queues)

  • YourQueueObject

  • Queue messages Journal messages

Queue object

Queue objects are located under the msmq object of the computer on which they reside (except for dependent clients, whose Queue objects are located under the msmq object of the supporting server).

Queue alias object

Queue alias objects are displayed in the console tree of the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in in the following location:

  • Active Directory Users and Computers

  • YourDomainObject

  • YourContainer (such as Computers or Domain Controllers)

  • YourQueueAliasObject

Distribution group object

Distribution group objects are displayed in the console tree of the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in in the following location:

  • Active Directory Users and Computers

  • YourDomainObject

  • Users

  • YourDistributionGroupObject
