Creating DNS Domain Names and Computer Names
Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2
Before you deploy your Windows Server 2003 DNS infrastructure, you must create a naming convention for your DNS Internet and internal domains and the DNS computers on your network. To create a DNS naming convention, you must establish the following:
An Internet DNS domain name, if your organization is connected to the Internet.
An internal DNS domain name for your organization.
A DNS resource naming convention.
In addition, you must determine whether you need to support NetBIOS names in your organization.
