Modify name record settings

To modify name record settings

  1. Open WINS.

  2. In the console tree, click the applicable WINS server.

    • WINS/applicable WINS server
  3. On the Action menu, click Properties.

  4. Click the Intervals tab.

  5. Modify default settings as needed.

Notes

  • To open WINS, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click WINS.

  • For most networks the default interval settings, Renewinterval, Extinction interval, Extinction timeout, and Verificationinterval, are acceptable and do not require modification.

  • As an option, you can click Restore Default to restore WINS default intervals used for registering, renewing, and verifying name records in the database.
