Installing Fax Components

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

To create a fax server, you must install the Fax Server role. This installs Fax Service Manager, the Fax service, and a fax printer. In addition, you must install the Windows Fax and Scan feature separately to view the incoming fax queue, the inbox, and the outbox.

• Install the Fax Server Role

• Install Windows Fax and Scan

• Install and Share a Fax Printer for Network Users

• Open Fax Service Manager

Additional considerations

To install Fax components, you must be a member of the Administrators group or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure.
