Clean a Stand-alone Drive

Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista

To complete this procedure, you need the appropriate administrative credentials for the affected Removable Storage item. To maintain system security, rather than logging on as an administrator, log on as a user without administrative credentials and then run Removable Storage with administrative credentials.

To run Removable Storage with administrative credentials

  1. Open a command prompt with administrative credentials. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then point to Run as administrator.

  2. Provide administrative credentials for an account in the Administrators group and then click Submit. A command prompt with administrative credentials opens.
