Event ID 33 — Supported Plug and Play Device Redirection
Applies To: Windows Server 2008 R2
Remote Desktop Services in Windows Server 2008 R2 includes support for redirection of Windows Portable Devices, specifically media players based on the Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) and digital cameras based on the Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP), as well as devices that use Microsoft Point of Service (POS) for .NET 1.11.
When a user establishes a remote session with a Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 RD Session Host server, the supported Plug and Play device attached to the user's local computer can be redirected and made available to the user in the remote session.

Resolve
Restart the RD Session Host server (if necessary)
This issue should not cause significant problems, but if the RD Session Host server experiences degradation in performance, restart the RD Session Host server. Restarting the RD Session Host server will delete all physical device objects (PDOs) in memory.
Note: A PDO represents the individual device on a hardware bus to a bus driver. The PDO is usually deleted from the RD Session Host server when the user logs off or disconnects from a session or when the device is removed from the client computer. If the PDO is not deleted, system resources (for example, memory) might still be allocated to the PDO.
Verify
To verify that supported Plug and Play device redirection is working properly, use either of the following methods:
Method one
Establish a remote session with the RD Session Host server and check that the redirected device is available and is functioning as expected.
Method two
Check the status of the device by using Device Manager.
To perform this procedure, you must have membership in the local Administrators group, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.
To use Device Manager to check the status of the device:
- On the RD Session Host server, open Device Manager. To open Device Manager, click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc, and then click OK.
- If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.
- On the View menu, click Devices by connection.
- Locate the device under the User Mode Bus controller node.
- Double-click the device and verify that Device status indicates that the device is working properly.
