Checklist: Prepare and Create a LUN
Applies To: Windows Server 2008
Step | Reference |
---|---|
Review the basic logical unit number (LUN) management concepts. |
Verify that all the storage subsystems in your storage area network (SAN) have been discovered. |
Configure the Fibre Channel and iSCSI connections of the servers to which your LUNs will be assigned. |
If you are going to create a LUN for an iSCSI subsystem, first create, configure and log on to the iSCSI targets in the subsystem. |
If you are going to enable a server or cluster to access a LUN through multiple Fibre Channel ports or iSCSI initiator adapters, ensure that the server or cluster supports Multipath I/O (MPIO). |
Use the Provision Storage Wizard to create a LUN and assign it to a server or cluster. |
