Find Certificates

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

From the certificates that appear in the Certificates snap-in, it may not always be an obvious task to find the ones you want. The Find Certificates dialog box allows you to locate certificates based on a number of parameters that can be as broad or narrow as necessary to complete your task.

Users or local Administrators are the minimum group memberships required to complete this procedure. Review the details in "Additional considerations" in this topic..

To find a certificate

  1. Select the top node of the Certificates container for a user, computer, or service.

  2. On the Action menu, select FindCertificates.

  3. Fill in the requested information. For example, use:

    • Find in: to search in a specific certificate store, or to search in all certificate stores.
