Copying Your Target System to the Target Hardware by Using a Network Connection

To copy your target system to target hardware by using a network connection, the target hardware must contain the following:

  • Windows NT Workstation software
  • CD-ROM drive
  • Hard drive
  • Network adapter
  • Floppy disk drive

A network connection must also be established between your target hardware and your development system.

To copy the target system to the target hardware

  1. On your development system, create a shared folder that contains the entire directory structure of the target system to be copied.

  2. Copy the target system directory structure to the hard disk on your target hardware.

  3. Turn off the target hardware.

  4. Detach unwanted devices from the target hardware, and make resulting BIOS configuration changes that are needed.

  5. Boot your embedded system on the target hardware.

**Note   **After installing your target system on the target hardware and verifying functionality, you can uninstall Windows NT Workstation software on the target hardware.
