I keep getting New sign-in request for my Microsoft account during the day and in the night. Even though I am not doing anything with Microsoft. What could be the cause? I already changed my password

Getting repeated sign-in requests even after changing your password usually points to one of these causes:

1. Active sessions/apps using old credentials Apps or devices (phone, tablet, old PC) still trying to sign in with your previous password will keep triggering authentication requests. Go to account.microsoft.com → Security → Sign-in activity and review all recent activity.

2. Compromised account or credential stuffing If someone has your email address, they may be repeatedly attempting to log in. Check if your email appears in a breach at haveibeenpwned.com.

3. Connected third-party apps Apps authorized to access your Microsoft account can trigger sign-in prompts. Review and revoke suspicious ones at account.microsoft.com → Privacy → App permissions.

Steps I'd recommend:

  1. Enable MFA if you haven't already, Microsoft Authenticator will block unauthorized attempts
  2. Review sign-in activity for unfamiliar locations or devices
  3. Sign out of all sessions (account.microsoft.com → Security → Sign out everywhere)
  4. Check connected apps and revoke anything you don't recognize
  5. Consider using a passkey instead of a password for stronger protection

If the requests continue after all this, contact Microsoft Support directly as your account may need a security review.
