Windows 11 June Update: Boot issues, BitLocker prompt, and network failure caused by third‑party antivirus conflict

Problem

After installing the June cumulative update on Windows 11, systems running a third‑party antivirus solution experience:

Blue screen immediately after reboot

Automatic Repair with no network available

BitLocker recovery prompt without any disk changes

Update rollback

All network interfaces stop working (Wi‑Fi, Ethernet, hotspot, USB tethering)

“Passive Mode” disables only the UI, while kernel‑level components remain active

These components interact with the update process during early boot

This results in the networking stack failing before Windows fully loads.

Solution

  1. Fully uninstall the third‑party antivirus (disabling it is not enough).

Restart the system — network functionality returns.

Run Windows Update again — update installs successfully.

Keep Microsoft Defender enabled — no issues observed.
