Important
When you are done with troubleshooting you should delete the following, including any copies you may have made, from your local machine, including from your recycling bin:
The compressed copy (.zip) of the lake data
The extracted copy of the lake data
The Power BI data lake troubleshooting template
Troubleshooting tips
Scenario 1: An organization is missing
Go to the Summary tab of the Power BI dashboard.
From the Organization filters, search for the missing organization.
If the organization is missing in the filter, then the organization data isn't available in the lake. Check the source and ensure that the organization data is ingested in the correct format.
Scenario 2: A student is missing from certain section
Go to the Sections tab of the Power BI dashboard.
From the Person filter, search for the missing student name.
If the student is found, select the name, which will show the information of all the sections that student is enrolled in.
Check whether the student is mapped to the required section.
If not, check the source of the data and ensure that the student, and section information are ingested in the correct format.
If the student isn't found, the student information isn't available in the lake. Check the source and ensure that the student information is ingested in the correct format.
Note
If the student is found, you may also use the Enrollment tab to complete information corresponding to the student and ensure they're correctly tagged to an organization, academic session etc. If not, correct the information in the source and re-ingest the data.
Scenario 3: A student is missing from certain course
Go to the Course tab of the Power BI dashboard.
From the Person filter, search for the missing student name.
If the student is found, select the name, which will show the information of all the courses that student is enrolled in. Check whether the student is mapped to the required course.
- If not, check the source of the data and ensure that the student, and course information are ingested in the correct format.
If the student isn't found, the student information isn't available in the lake. Check the source and ensure that the student information is ingested in the correct format.
Scenario 4: A user seems to be incorrectly tagged to a role
Review FAQ: How is the isPrimary value processed with the Connect Data configuration?
Go to the Person tab.
From the Person filter, search for the user.
If the user is found, check the corresponding role for that user
To check for the role of the user in a specific organization, use the organization filter.
If the user is incorrectly tagged to a role, correct the data in the source and ingest it again the correct format.
If the user isn't found, the user information isn't available in the lake. Check the source and ensure that the user information is ingested in the correct format.
