Migration Assessment Scan: List Items with Audience Targeting

Overview

In SharePoint, it's possible to enable Audience Targeting on a list or library. After this feature is enabled users are able to target audiences on a given list item. Unfortunately during a migration from on-premises SharePoint to SharePoint in Microsoft 365, the list and list item audience data won't migrate. This report contains all the list items in the environment that are targeting audiences.

Data Migration

Audience targeting data won't migrate.

Important

Any site that is configured as "No Access" (locked), in SharePoint will be skipped. To see a list of locked site collections see the Locked Sites scan output.

Preparing for Migration

Use the report to understand the audiences that are being used to target list content to users. If this functionality is needed after migration to SharePoint, plan for the remediation of impacted content. Remediation involves creating new audiences in SharePoint environment and fixing the impacted list items post migration.

Post Migration

Implement your remediation plan for the impacted content that was decided during Preparing for Migration.
