Battery life
Battery life varies significantly based on device configuration, usage, network and feature configuration, settings, and other factors.
Testing was conducted by Microsoft in April 2026 using preproduction software and preproduction Surface Pro, 13-inch, 12th Edition devices. Test configurations included Intel® Core™ Ultra 5, 16GB RAM, 256GB storage with LCD display and Intel® Core™ Ultra 7, 16GB RAM, 512GB storage with OLED display.
For local video playback testing, devices were tested through full battery discharge while playing a 1080p, 24 FPS .mov file in Windows Media Player. Screen brightness was set to 150 nits with auto-brightness disabled. Wi-Fi was connected to a network.
For active web usage, devices were tested through full battery discharge while accessing 12 popular websites across multiple browser tabs. Screen brightness was set to 150 nits with auto-brightness disabled. Wi-Fi was connected to a network.
Battery-life specifications for Wi-Fi + 5G models will be added when final test data is available.
Display
The Surface Pro for Business, 13-inch, 12th Edition display has rounded corners within a standard rectangle. When measured as a standard rectangular shape, the screen measures 13 inches diagonally. Actual viewable area is less.
The anti-reflective display is designed to minimize unwanted reflections and is certified by TÜV SÜD to meet ISO 9241-307 requirements.
Dolby Vision IQ™ requires Dolby Vision® encoded content and video.
HDR requires HDR content and must be enabled in device settings.
Fast charging
Fast charging requires a minimum 65W Surface Power Supply or minimum 60W USB Type-C® PD charger or higher. Testing was conducted by Microsoft in February 2026.
In select markets, only specific configurations include a Surface Power Supply.
Storage
Available storage is subject to change based on system software updates and app usage. System software uses significant storage space. 1GB = 1 billion bytes. 1TB = 1,000 GB.
Drive Retention is available only on Microsoft Surface devices for which the drive is marketed as removable in the technical specifications. Availability of Drive Retention plans and options varies by device and region.
5G connectivity
5G is available on select Surface Pro for Business, 13-inch, 12th Edition configurations.
5G availability, compatibility, and performance depend on network availability, carrier, plan, location, and other factors.
Availability of eSIM, NanoSIM, positioning systems, and cellular features varies by market and configuration.

Recycled materials
The enclosure contains 86% recycled content, including 100% recycled aluminum alloy and 100% recycled rare earth metals in the magnets.
The device also incorporates:
- 100% recycled cobalt in the battery cell
- 100% recycled tin in solder paste
- 100% recycled gold on the motherboard
- 100% recycled copper in the motherboard
- 50% recycled copper in the thermal assembly cold plate
Recycled-content claims are based on validation performed by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. using the Environmental Claim Validation Procedure for Recycled Content, UL ECVP 2809-2, Second Edition, dated June 2024. Recycled content is defined in accordance with ISO 14021.
Packaging
Sales packaging contains 77% recycled content in wood-based fiber packaging. The packaging is paper-based to minimize plastic use, and virgin paper is sourced from responsibly managed forests.
Energy efficiency
Surface Pro for Business, 13-inch, 12th Edition is ENERGY STAR® certified and registered EPEAT® Gold.
EPEAT rating is based on EPEAT 1.0. Refer to the EPEAT registry for current ratings. Ratings can vary by region, may change over time, and products are eventually archived.
Serviceability
Surface Pro for Business, 13-inch, 12th Edition includes replaceable components designed to support commercial device servicing.
Replacement components may be available through Surface Commercial authorized device resellers. Components can be replaced on-site by a skilled technician following the Microsoft Service Guide. Microsoftponents and service options varies by product, market, and over time.
