Assemble items on projects
Similar to sales, you can't directly post linked assembly orders. When you reserve the created assembly order for the project, Business Central syncs item tracking between project planning lines and assembly orders.
Depending on the warehouse configuration, you have different ways to assemble items on projects:
No warehouse handling - Use a project journal to post full or partial usage. The output and consumption of components post automatically for the assembly order.
Inventory pick - Use an inventory pick to post full or partial usage. The output and consumption of components post automatically for the assembly order.
Warehouse pick - Create and register warehouse picks for components, and then use a project journal to post usage. Business Central verifies whether the consumed assembly components were picked. The output and consumption of components post automatically for the assembly order.
The following demonstration shows how to use the four conference bundles on the Reception area remodel project by using a project journal. Before you can post the usage, you should first set up a new combination in the general posting setup that allows the posting of resource services.
Select the Search for page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter general posting setup, and then select the related link.
Select New.
Leave the Gen. Bus. Posting Group field blank and then enter SERVICES in the Gen. Prod. Posting Group field.
Select Copy.
In the Gen. Bus. Posting Group field, enter DOMESTIC, and in the Gen. Prod. Posting Group field, enter SERVICES.
In the Copy field, select All fields.
Make sure that all accounts are selected.
Select OK > Yes.
Select the escape (Esc) key to return to the role center.
Select the Search for page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter projects, and then select the related link.
Locate project JOB00010 and then select the No. field to open the project card.
Expand the Tasks FastTab.
Select project task number 1240 (Decorations and Furnishings) and then select Line > Project > Project Planning Lines.
Select the planning line for the four conference bundles and then select Create Project Journal Lines.
In the Project Transfer Planning Line-JOB page, enter the following fields:
Posting Date - work date
Project Journal Template - PROJECT
Project Journal Batch - CONTOSO
Select OK > OK.
Select the Search for page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter project journals, and then select the related link.
On the Project Journal Template List page, select PROJECT.
Notice the line for the four conference bundles.
Under Home, select Post > Yes > OK.
Because the item is an assemble-to-order item, the program first posts consumption of the BOM components and output of the assembled item. Then, it posts the usage of the assembled item.
