Exercise - Configure the Copilot settings catalog

Relecloud's Copilot rollout is underway and you're tuning tenant behavior before regulated Woodgrove Bank work runs through it. Make a representative set of catalog decisions yourself.

Prerequisites for this exercise:

  • A Microsoft 365 tenant with Microsoft 365 Copilot provisioned and AI Administrator access to the Copilot settings surface.

Note each setting's admin-center location and the role that can change it as you go—the disambiguation between what AI Administrator can change and what requires Global Administrator matters later in this module.

Task 1: Set release preferences for Copilot

  1. Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center at admin.microsoft.com with your AI Administrator account.
  2. Go to Copilot > Settings, then select View all.
  3. Find Release preferences (sometimes listed under a general or early-access rollout section) and review the current setting.
  4. Choose whether Relecloud's tenant should receive new Copilot features as they roll out broadly (Standard) or ahead of general availability (Targeted/early access, if offered). Set it deliberately rather than leaving the tenant default unexamined, and select Save.
  5. Note: this setting lives under Copilot > Settings > View all and is changeable by an AI Administrator—no Global Administrator escalation needed for this one.

Task 2: Configure the image and video generation control

  1. From the same Settings > View all page, find the setting controlling Copilot's image and video generation capability.
  2. Review the current state (on or off) and decide what fits Relecloud's use case—for example, leaving it on for general use but noting it as a setting to revisit once Woodgrove-related work is in scope, since generated media isn't typically appropriate for regulated client deliverables.
  3. Toggle the setting to your decision and save.
  4. Note this setting's admin-center location and role requirement alongside the one from Task 1.

You've now walked the Copilot settings catalog and configured two representative settings—release preferences and image/video generation—recording where each lives and who can change it, the foundation for every setting decision the rest of this module builds on.
