Introduction

Completed

One of Relecloud's shared support mailboxes is about to hit a wall nobody wrote down anywhere obvious. Cross it, and the mailbox quietly stops delivering new mail—customer escalations start bouncing, and the first you hear about it is a customer blaming Relecloud for going silent.

Two shared mailboxes on your team are sitting in that danger zone right now: one at 37 GB, one at 84 GB. Same purpose, same team structure, same number of people logging in to answer mail. Only one of them actually needs a paid Exchange Online Plan 2 license to stay safe.

Which one—and what's actually different between them?

Here's what's riding on the answer. Guess "shared mailboxes never need a license," and the one that quietly crosses its limit stops delivering mail entirely. Guess "better license everything to be safe," and you're paying for licenses two mailboxes never needed.

What you'll learn

  • Manage user, shared, and resource mailboxes with correct properties, storage sizing, and licensing—including when a shared mailbox crosses the free-storage threshold and needs a paid license.
  • Delegate mailbox access using the right permission (Full Access, Send As, or Send on Behalf) for what the recipient needs to see in the From field.
  • Recognize how mail routes through Exchange Online by default, and where accepted domains and connectors fit in when the default path doesn't.
  • Create a Teams team and its channels—including private and shared channels—and know what a team actually provisions behind the scenes.
  • Configure a Teams meeting policy that turns on Copilot with the transcription setting it depends on.

By the end of this module, you can manage user and shared mailboxes with correct sizing and licensing, delegate mailbox access using the right permission model, recognize how mail routes through Exchange Online, and configure teams and Copilot meeting policies to match a specific business requirement.
