Assign number series for fixed assets and insurances

Completed

For each company that you set up in Business Central, you need to assign unique identification codes to general ledger accounts, customer and vendor accounts, invoices, and other documents that include fixed assets. Typically, you would set up number series to automatically insert the next consecutive number on new cards or documents that you create.

On the Numbering FastTab, from the Fixed Asset Setup page, you can assign number series for fixed assets and insurances. To see the number series that are currently set up for a field, select that field.

Numbering is important for identification. A well-designed numbering system makes the company more manageable and easier to analyze and it can reduce the number of errors that might occur in data entry.

If you don't turn on the Automatic Insurance Posting option on the Fixed Asset Setup page, then your insurance journal should be based on a journal template without a number series. The reason is because the inserted document numbers from the fixed asset journal line might conflict with the number series of the insurance journal.
