Teams Phone Mobile is another option for providing Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) connectivity for Teams Phone

Teams Phone Mobile is provided by select certified mobile operators. It allows a user to have a single mobile phone number that is also their Teams Phone number. Giving a single native mobile number, single teams voicemail and calling policies in Microsoft Teams.

Configure your tenant for Teams Phone Mobile

Before you configure a user for Teams Phone Mobile, you must set up a Teams Phone Mobile Operator.

To enable an operator:

  1. In Teams Admin Center select Voice then Operator Connect, Choose an operator that supports Teams Phone Mobile.

  2. Under Operator settings, select the countries/regions you want to enable with your selected operator.

  3. Provide contact information. Your contact information, including your full name and email address, will be shared automatically with your operator. You can change this information later. Additionally, you'll need to provide company size, and you'll have the option to provide your phone number.

  4. Operators will use this information to contact you with more details about Teams Phone Mobile.

Once you've agreed and signed up for the service with the Operator, they'll be connected to your tenant. You're ready to order and assign Teams Phone Mobile numbers to your users.

Assign a Teams Phone Mobile number to a user

Once numbers are acquired from your Teams Phone Mobile Operator, you can assign them to users in the Teams Admin Center

  1. In the left navigation, select Voice > Phone numbers.

  2. On the Phone numbers page, select an unassigned number in the list, and then select Edit.

  3. In the Edit pane, under Assigned to, search for the user by display name or user name, and then select Assign.

  4. select Save.

Note, your Teams Phone Mobile operator will provide a SIM or eSIM for the mobile device of your user.

Manage user incoming calling policies with Mobility Policies

By default, incoming calls for Teams Phone Mobile users will ring the Teams app first on the user's SIM-enabled mobile device.

You can set a policy to ring the user's SIM-enabled mobile device first if you prefer

  1. In Teams Admin Center, Under the Voice tab, select Mobility Policies.

  2. To add a new mobile policy, select Add.

  3. Add a name, and description for the policy,

  4. Choose one of the following from the Select a mobile dialer dropdown option:** Microsoft Teams, Native dialer, User Controlled**

  5. Select Apply

This policy can then be assigned to the user or users.
