Introduction
A Power Apps code app is a custom, code-first web app that you build with your own tools and frameworks. But it delivers real value only when it reaches the data and automation that already run on Power Platform. As a developer, you need to connect that app to connectors, Dataverse tables, cloud flows, and agents so the app reflects live business state instead of hardcoded or mock data.
Suppose your organization tracks equipment replacement requests for items like laptops, monitors, and headsets through an internal equipment-provisioning system built as a custom Dataverse solution. The solution models employees, devices, requests, and the allowances that govern how often someone can request a replacement for a given device category.
A developer on your team builds a Power Apps code app, a React and TypeScript web app, so employees can submit and track these requests. That app needs to pull from and push to several Power Platform services to do its job well.
In this module, you explore how to configure a code app to call a Power Platform connector that reports device availability from an external logistics service. You also explore how to perform create, read, update, and metadata operations against Dataverse tables.
You also explore how to trigger a Power Automate cloud flow that routes a request to a coordinator for approval. And you explore how to call a Copilot Studio agent that answers employees' questions about their eligibility and request status in natural language.
By the end of this module, you can configure a code app to read and write Power Platform data and trigger Power Platform automation and agents.
