Create a workflow from workflow templates
To save time when you create a workflow, you can start from a workflow template.
Workflow templates are non-editable workflows that are available in the generic version of Business Central. Microsoft workflow template codes have the MS- prefix.
To create a workflow from a template, follow these steps:
- Select the Search (Alt+Q) icon in the upper-right corner of the page.
- Enter workflows, and then select the related link.
- Select New Workflow from Template. The Workflow Templates page opens.
- Select a workflow template, and then select OK.
- On the Workflow page, review the new workflow.
The new workflow contains the information from the selected template. The Code field includes a suffix such as -01. The suffix identifies the workflow as the first workflow created from that template.
You can also create a workflow directly from the Workflow Templates page. Select the template, select New, and then select New Workflow from Template.
A workflow created from a template requires additional setup. Specify the workflow response options on the Options for the Selected Response FastTab.
You can use a template as provided or customize it for your needs. To restore a changed Microsoft workflow template to its original settings, select Reset Microsoft Templates.
The Reset Microsoft Templates action resets all Microsoft workflow templates. You can't reset an individual template.
If you change the when event for a workflow step, its then responses also change. Other when events might use those responses as the next step in the workflow. After you change a when event, verify that the next steps for its then responses are still correct.
