Introduction
A code app that runs correctly on a developer's machine isn't ready for real users. Before people outside the development team rely on it, the app needs a defined security boundary and a repeatable way to package and share it. It also needs a way to observe what happens after release, and tuning so it stays responsive under real usage. Skipping any of these steps puts data, uptime, and user trust at risk.
Consider Contoso, a company that tracks employee equipment requests in a custom Dataverse solution. Employees submit requests for items like laptops, monitors, and headsets through a Power Apps code app built with the Power Apps CLI and a modern JavaScript framework.
The app checks employee eligibility against Dataverse records, calls an external service to confirm current device stock, and lets a coordinator review and approve each request. You already built this app and confirmed it runs locally in production mode. Now the app needs to move from a developer's machine into the hands of employees and coordinators who depend on it daily.
In this module, you explore how to define a Content Security Policy that controls which external resources the app can contact, such as the service that reports device stock. You also learn how to package the app, deploy it, and share access with the right users.
And you learn how to use Azure Application Insights alongside browser-based tools to monitor and troubleshoot behavior once the app is live. Finally, you look at ways to optimize performance and resource usage as request volume grows.
By the end of this module, you're able to take a working code app like Contoso's equipment-provisioning solution and prepare it for secure, observable, and well-performing use in production.
