Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management manages the end-to-end flow of goods and services, from suppliers to customers. It covers production, inventory, procurement, warehousing, and sales to ensure the right products are delivered at the right time with minimal cost. The application also enhances decision-making through real-time insights and AI-powered tools like Copilot.

In this module, you learned how product information management enables organizations to centrally create and manage products and services. You can define products as shared (non-legal entity specific) and then release them to individual legal entities where operational details like pricing, inventory, and costing can vary.

Products can be simple (no variants) or defined as product masters that generate multiple variants based on dimensions such as size, color, style, and configuration. The system supports detailed setup through released product FastTabs covering purchasing, sales, inventory, engineering, costing, and warehousing. Storage dimensions (site, warehouse, location, license plate, status) and tracking dimensions (batch, serial, ownership) control how items are stored, tracked, and traced.

Item groups and item model groups define financial posting and inventory behavior, including costing methods and policies. Default order settings drive procurement, sales, and inventory processes. Together, these configurations enable product lifecycle management, inventory control, financial integration, and data-driven insights through Copilot across the supply chain.
