Model and coach review of AI-generated output
Help nursing staff stay confident and in control by modeling how to quickly review AI-generated output in Dragon Copilot. Reinforce that AI creates a draft, and nursing staff review, edit, and decide what gets filed.
Simple review routine to model
- Check date and time in the EHR first.
- Review flowsheet sections.
- Validate values and edit if needed.
- Use the ambient source to confirm details.
- Use the transcript if more context is needed.
Important
Update date and time before selecting Ready for Review. You can't change it after editing starts.
Explain ambient source simply
"Ambient source shows what was said during care so you can confirm values before filing."
- Use it during review to show when and why it helps. Example: "When the recording is paused, I can see what was already captured and see any flowsheet rows that still need to be discussed. This is especially helpful if I had to pause to handle an interruption and I want to remember what I already did and what still needs to be documented."
- After filing, use the transcript instead to verify what was said as needed. Ensure you can guide peers to the transcript in the EHR and in the Dragon Copilot web/desktop app.
Reinforce review as a quick step, not extra work
Review ensures AI-generated content meets the nurse’s expectations. Nurses refine what the AI produces as needed to ensure accuracy. Review is a quick step in the workflow, and it becomes faster with greater comfort using care out loud.
- Dragon Copilot populates flowsheets for the nursing staff.
- The user can focus on quick validation, not rework.
- Edits are expected and part of safe use.
- Time spent editing should go down as experience increases.
Practice makes perfect. Model review once, then guide a peer how to do it.
Common coaching scenarios
These common scenarios help guide when to review the ambient source or transcript.
Something doesn't look right: Check the ambient source. Check the transcript if needed. Edit the value. Focus on key details, not a full review. Reinforce that nursing staff review and adjust as needed.
Spoken update changes a default: Spoken input can override defaults. Always verify during review. File the correct value.
Wi-Fi drops: Some actions require Wi-Fi (such as selecting a patient). Recording can continue after patient selection. Upload happens when the connection returns. Preview and transcript might not display offline. Reassure staff that they can continue care and review later.
Tip
Model one full review, then coach a peer through it. Keep it quick, focused, and confidence-building.
