Exercise - Run and interpret the Copilot readiness report
Before Relecloud expands Copilot beyond its pilot group, you need to confirm the tenant meets Copilot's prerequisites—which users are eligible, and where the gaps are.
Important
Prerequisites for this exercise:
- A Microsoft 365 E5 (or E7/Frontier Suite) tenant with AI Administrator access.
- Microsoft 365 Apps on a Copilot-eligible update channel (Current or Monthly Enterprise) for at least the pilot group.
Readiness Report data can take up to 72 hours to populate after Copilot licenses are first assigned—use whatever the most recent complete period shows.
Task 1: Run the Copilot readiness report
- Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center at admin.microsoft.com with your AI Administrator account.
- Go to Reports > Usage, then open the Microsoft 365 Copilot readiness report (or search for Copilot readiness if the entry point differs in your tenant's release).
- Review the report's summary tiles—total assigned Copilot licenses, users meeting all prerequisites, and users with at least one gap.
Task 2: Identify eligible vs. ineligible users and update-channel gaps
- Open the detailed user list and sort by Readiness status.
- For users marked Not ready, review the specific gap flagged—commonly an update channel that isn't Current or Monthly Enterprise, or a missing prerequisite app version.
- Cross-reference one flagged user against Devices > Microsoft 365 Apps update channel reporting to confirm which channel they're actually on.
- Reflect: a user can hold a valid Copilot license and still show as not ready—the license and the technical prerequisites are two separate checks, and the Readiness Report is what surfaces the gap between them before it becomes a "Copilot isn't working for me" ticket.
You've now run and interpreted the Copilot Readiness Report, distinguishing tenant-prerequisite gaps from licensing—the first of the three readiness gates this module builds toward.
