Microsoft Copilot Studio

Moving an agent from the Preview tab into production requires repeatable quality checks, controlled publication, post-publish validation, and ongoing operational oversight. This module explains how to create and run evaluations, interpret quality and runtime signals, publish an agent to Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot, and identify when governance controls, application lifecycle management practices, or administrator support are required.

Learning objectives

After completing this module, you can:

  • Distinguish informal testing on the Preview tab from repeatable evaluation.
  • Create representative test cases with expected outcomes and review evaluation results.
  • Use the Evaluate and Monitor tabs to identify quality, grounding, capability-selection, and runtime issues.
  • Publish an agent to Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot and validate its authentication, permissions, knowledge, tools, and workflows.
  • Explain governance and application lifecycle management considerations for agents.
  • Identify authoring and runtime activities that consume Copilot Credits and where administrators monitor capacity.

Prerequisites

  • Basic understanding of agents powered by the GitHub Copilot harness
  • Experience creating and testing an agent in Microsoft Copilot Studio
  • Access to a Microsoft Copilot Studio environment where you can create, evaluate, and publish agents
  • Permission to install an agent in Microsoft Teams or Microsoft 365 Copilot, or access to an administrator who can approve the agent
