Dynamics 365

Project Operations has several better together scenarios with the Dynamics 365 portfolio.

View of the available better together scenarios for Project Operations.

The following better together scenarios are available for Project Operations:

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales out-of-the-box integration allows customers to manage their products, service opportunities, and pipeline in a single system. Customers who sell products and services will be able to enhance their offerings with Sales and Project Operations.

  • With the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance out-of-the-box integration, you'll get the service-centric enterprise resource planning (ERP) to customers, extending the end-to-end capabilities to payroll, accounts payable/accounts receivable and general ledger capabilities that exist in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance.

  • Marketing capabilities provide you with the lead-to-opportunity-to-quote communication plans process for product and services sales.

  • For customers who have Dynamics 365 Field Service and project-centric service functions, you can support the central resource pool where the source availability can be managed, regardless of whether resources are assigned to projects or whether they're assigned to work orders in the field.

  • In the integration to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, stock and production-based scenarios are supported for customers, especially in the manufacturing and engineering industries, so that integration relies on the project management and accounting capabilities.

Power Platform

From a platform perspective, Project Operations is built on top of Microsoft Power Platform. You can also use Microsoft Power Automate, Microsoft Power Apps, and Microsoft Power BI-type capabilities.

List of platforms Project Operations can be built on.

Microsoft 365

For Microsoft 365, Project Operations uses capabilities directly from Project for the web. All project planning capabilities use Microsoft projects, tasks, scheduling, Gantt, and Kanban board capabilities.

Project Operations supports integration with Microsoft Teams, and can be used for members of a project or the opportunity to collaborate and share documentation in the private team setting.

Project Operations uses capabilities directly from Project and can be integrated with Teams.

Microsoft partners

Microsoft partners form a large part of the Microsoft Cloud platform.

From the creation of specialty apps for an industry or integrations with heterogenous systems, their experience and in-depth knowledge of the platform make for an end-to-end customer solution.

Partners are a large part of the Microsoft Cloud platform. Specialty apps and integrations can also be added for an end-to-end customer solution.

Project Operations is a horizontal workload that uses the industry expertise of the extensive Microsoft partner ecosystem to serve customers in a specific industry.

For most industries, this expertise will be in the form of the implementation partner extending Project Operations by using the capabilities of Power Platform so that they can adapt Project Operations to that customer's needs.

Many partners specialize in manufacturing and professional services. More complicated industries have partner industry solutions in Microsoft AppSource, which can also accelerate implementation.

The Microsoft partner ecosystem brings industry expertise and solutions to the following industries:

  • Professional services and consulting

  • Manufacturing services

  • Architecture, engineering, and consulting

  • Health services

  • Facilities, utilities, mining, and others
