Explore a fixed asset

Completed

For each fixed asset, you must set up a card that contains information about the asset. You can set up buildings or production equipment as a main asset with a component list, and you can group them in various ways, such as by class, department, or location. Then, you can begin to acquire, maintain, and sell the fixed assets. You can also set up budgeted assets. This feature makes it possible to include any anticipated acquisitions and sales in reports.

To access a fixed asset, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Search for Page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter fixed assets, and then select the related link.

  2. In the list of fixed assets, select the No. field to open a fixed asset.

  • General - On this FastTab, you can find information like the number, the fixed asset class and subclass, and the fixed asset location.

  • Depreciation Book - On this FastTab, you configure how the fixed asset should be depreciated and to which G/L accounts that the fixed asset transactions should be posted.

  • Maintenance - On this FastTab, you can add information that is related to maintaining the fixed asset.

All the details on the fixed asset card and the process of setting up assets is covered in the Create fixed assets in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central learning path.
