Once your class team is created, personalize it to fit your virtual classroom needs. This checklist guides the design of your virtual classroom.
Channels
What channels do you create to keep your class team organized for students?
- Determine the types of channels you want to create (weekly, topic, activity, groups, social, questions)
- Decide the order of importance for your channels
- Create channels based on your preferred organizational structure; be sure to number them (01, 02) so they display in the order you prefer
- Determine if channels need to be moderated
- Manage channel and set moderation for channels that need to be moderated
Tabs
What resources do you want your students to access?
- Make a list of the resources your students need to access during your course
- Determine which channel each resource belongs in
- For each resource, add it as a Tab to the appropriate channel
- Post your digital citizenship guidelines to your social channel
OneNote Class Notebook
What content do you share with students?
- Put existing course materials in the Content Library
- Create new course materials in the Content Library
- Determine the type of workspace your students need
- Decide what work students complete together in the Collaboration Space
- Design activity pages for students to complete independently
- Distribute pages to students at the appropriate time through Assignments in Teams
Posts
How do you foster communication with your students?
- Use the announcement feature for posts you want to stand out
- Save time with the post in multiple channels feature, if you have more than one class (or group) that needs to see the same information
- Set post to only moderators and owners can post, if you want to restrict students from replying
- Use @mentions to alert the entire team, a specific channel, or a specific student
