Summary
Contoso's equipment-provisioning flow no longer breaks on malformed requests, or gives up the moment a dependency has a bad moment. It no longer fires on every unrelated edit, duplicates its approval logic across related flows, or depends on one person's account to stay running. You now have the techniques to bring that same resilience to any cloud flow you build or maintain.
What you learned
- Expressions such as
coalesce()andand()/or()validate and transform incoming data. Condition, Switch, and Scope actions organize branching logic, and a Try/Catch scope pattern built on Run after settings handles failures without stopping the flow outright. - Trigger conditions and column-level scoping on a Dataverse trigger filter out fires that don't deserve a flow run. A retry policy then lets an action recover automatically from a transient fault, instead of failing on the first error.
- A reusable child flow is called through the Run a Child Flow action and connected to its parent through defined inputs and outputs. It replaces duplicated logic across several flows with a single place to maintain it.
- A service principal, made usable in Dataverse through an application user, gives a flow an identity independent of any one person's account, role, or license.
