Introduction

Completed

This module covers the various aspects and applications of formula change management. You'll learn about the background of the Engineering Change Management Add-in for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management before learning about the different use cases and features that are related to it. Over the course of this module, you'll learn how to use Engineering Change Management for housing product data and iterating on and validating it.

If your company uses the process manufacturing features within Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, you'll also be able to use the formula management functionalities to manage these changes:

  • Formula and planning items - Handle changes to ingredients in formulas and their co-products and by-products.

  • Co-products and by-products - Change quantities and other information of the co-products and by-products in a formula.

    • A by-product refers to an item that isn't used in your formula but might be created in the process of manufacturing a product. For instance, if you're making a cake, and your formula calls for egg whites, then egg yolks would be your by-product.

    • A co-product refers to an item that's a component in a formula that you can sell as a standalone product or use in other formulas. To continue with the cake example, consider that you also need to make sugar toppers for the cake. Though the topper would be a component of the cake, you could also sell the topper separately as a co-product.

  • Catchweight items - Manage changes to catch-weight items.
