Set up fixed asset groups

Completed

When you set up fixed asset groups, you can select a default number sequence for bar codes. When you set up a fixed asset that's a member of a fixed asset group, you can have the system automatically assign the bar code number, depending on system setup.

To create a new fixed asset group, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Fixed assets > Setup > Fixed asset groups.

  2. Select New.

  3. In the Fixed asset group field, enter a value.

  4. In the Name field, enter a value.

  5. The Autonumber fixed assets and Number sequence code options on the Fixed asset group override the settings on the Fixed assets parameters page. You can change the settings if the assets in this fixed asset group have different numbering from other groups.

  6. Select Books.

  7. In the Book field, enter or select a value.

The Calculate depreciation field is set to Yes, so the system includes the asset book in depreciation proposals. If Calculate depreciation is set to No, the system doesn't automatically depreciate the asset.

  8. Set the Service life of the asset in years.

The system calculates the Depreciation periods field value after you set the Service life.

  9. In the Depreciation convention field, select an option.

  10. Close the page.
