Exercise - Move items in the warehouse

Scenario

You are preparing a demo on warehouse management in Business Central, and you have decided to create a demo company with complete sample data. A demo company as such will have Warehouse Management Systems set up, which is an advantage for you because it allows you to focus your demo on the warehouse processes.

You decide to name your new demo company CRONUS WH DEMO. When the demo company is created, you set the user experience to Premium. Finally, you will set up yourself as a warehouse employee.

Tasks

  1. Set up a new demo company with complete sample data.

  2. Set up the Premium user experience.

  3. Set up yourself as a warehouse employee for location WHITE.

Steps

  1. Set up a new demo company with complete sample data.

    1. Select the Search for page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter sandbox environment (preview), and then select the related link. 

    2. Select Create. When the sandbox environment is created, it automatically opens. The word Sandbox will be displayed in the upper-right corner of the page.

    3. Select the Settings icon in the upper-right corner of the page and then select My Settings. 

    4. Select the Open assist edit option in the Company field. 

    5. Select New > Create New Company. 

    6. Select Next. 

    7. Enter the name of the company. 

    8. On the Select the data and setup to get started field, select Advanced Evaluation - Complete Sample Data. 

    9. Select Next. For this exercise, no other users are required. 

    10. Select Finish. Business Central will create the new company. This process can take up to ten minutes.

  2. Set up the premium user experience.

    1. Select the Search for page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter company information, and then select the related link. 

    2. Expand the user Experience FastTab. 

    3. In the Experience field, select Premium. 

    4. Select OK and then close the page to automatically restart Business Central. 

  3. Set up yourself as a warehouse employee for location WHITE.

    1. Select the Search for page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter warehouse employees, and then select the related link. 

    2. In the User ID field, select your user account. 

    3. In the Location Code field, select WHITE. 

    4. Select Default.

    5. Close the Warehouse Employees page.
