Exercise - Create a number series

This exercise is written to use the Cronus sample company from the US version of Business Central. You might need to make adjustments to the steps if you use the sample company from your country or region.

Scenario

As the controller for CRONUS, you have decided to use a number series to distinguish sales orders that were entered for retail customers. Use the following criteria to set up the number series:

  • The new number series is S-ORD-R, with a description of Sales Order (Retail).

  • The first number in the number series is R-SO-1001.

  • The first date that the number series should use is 01/01/19.

  • The new number series is related to the S-ORD number series.

Tasks

Add the number series and set up a relationship as specified in the scenario.

Steps

  1. Select the Search for Page icon in the top-right corner of the page, enter No. Series, and select the related link.

  2. Select New.

  3. In the Code field, enter S-ORD-R.

  4. In the Description field, enter Sales Order (Retail).

  5. Select Navigate and then Lines.

  6. In the Starting Date field, enter 01/01/19.

  7. In the Starting No. field, enter R-SO-1001.

  8. Close the No. Series Lines page.

  9. On the No. Series page, locate and select the line for no. series S-ORD-1.

  10. Select Navigate and then Relationships to open the No. Series Relationships page.

  11. Select New.

  12. In the Code field, enter S-ORD-R.

  13. Close the No. Series Relationships page.

  14. Close the No. Series page.
