Get started with SharePoint Staff and Class pages
With SharePoint's page authoring technology, educators can seamlessly build beautiful webpages. The home page of the team site that supports the Class team and Staff team can be built to serve as a dashboard for the Class or Staff/PLC respectively.
SharePoint provides more than 40 out-of-the-box web parts which can be placed on the page—to add text, images, maps, quick links, files, and more including dynamic content from across Microsoft 365. It's easy to add, move, remove, and configure these web parts on the page canvas. These pages work responsively across web, tablet, and mobile.
SharePoint has two types of sites: team sites and communication sites. Let’s dive into team sites, which are meant for collaboration and sharing information within a team.
A SharePoint team site connects educators and their team to the content, information, and apps they use every day. For example, use a team site to store and collaborate on files or to create and manage lists of information. On a team site home page, view links to important team files, apps, and web pages and see recent site activity in the activity feed.
Two uses of team sites in education are the Class home page and Staff home page.
The Class home page serves as a dashboard where learners find important class information like links to resources, highlighted documents, engaging content, and more.
This template serves as a central dashboard for a class. Welcome learners, highlight key information and learning resources, and provide learners what they need. Educators can even add their contact information and an introduction.
The Staff home page serves as a dashboard where staff members find important information like links to tools and resources, highlighted documents, events, and more.
Use this template as a dashboard for staff members—whether it’s school wide, a department working group, or a professional learning community (PLC).
Customize the page
Both page templates are available in the SharePoint look book. Review the videos below to learn how to provision a team page, customize the page, and to add and edit web parts.
