Noncompliant fields
AutoText templates can include fill-in fields that require structured input. These fields help standardize reports and enforce consistent reporting.
A fill-in field is a placeholder in an AutoText template where you enter or select a value. Some fields are configured as required, which means you must complete them before finalizing the report.
Required fields in AutoText
Two common types of required fields include:
- Custom fields with a Pick List: A field that provides predefined options you must select.
- Pick Lists in AutoText: A Pick List built directly into the template.
These fields enforce compliance by limiting input to approved values. If you dictate free text into a required Pick List field, the system flags the field as noncompliant. This behavior ensures that reports use consistent, structured data instead of unverified free-text entries.
Understand noncompliant field indicators
Noncompliant fields typically indicate:
- The required field is incomplete.
- The value entered doesn't match the allowed Pick List options.
- Free dictation was used instead of selecting a valid option.
Resolve noncompliant fill-in fields
Identify the noncompliant field.
- Review the report for flagged fields.
- Locate fields that require input or show a compliance warning in the Smart Assist panel.
Enter a compliant value.
- Select a value from the Pick List in the Navigator.
- Don't dictate free text into Pick List fields.
Use navigation tools to move between fields.
- Use Next Field or Previous Field commands to locate required fields.
Validate the report.
- Ensure all required fields are completed.
- Confirm no fields remain flagged as noncompliant.
Scenario: Resolving a noncompliant findings field
You open a report that uses an AutoText template with a required findings field that includes a Pick List. Instead of selecting from the list, you dictate a value directly into the field. The system flags the field as noncompliant.
To resolve the issue, navigate back to the field, open the Pick List, and select the correct option. The compliance warning clears, and you continue completing the report.
