Search in the Report Editor

The Report Editor includes an AutoText tab that supports searching, previewing, editing, cloning, and applying Templates and Macros directly within the reporting workflow. This allows you to quickly locate relevant content, review it in context, and insert or manage AutoText without leaving the report.

Search templates or macros

In the Report Editor, radiologists can search in these ways:

  • Use the Type column header in the AutoText tab in the bottom pane to group Templates or Macros.
  • Use the dropdown to filter results by Relevant (default), All Personal, All Sites, Relevant Personal, Relevant Site, All Users, or Sections.
  • Use the Search by AutoText name field to find specific content.

More filtering options in the report editor

  • Sort results by selecting column headers.
  • Right-click a column header to add or remove Section, Folder, and Last Used columns.
  • Type, Name, and Owner columns are fixed.
  • Select Create in the search results pane to open the AutoText Manager and create a new AutoText.

Replace the default template

The current default Template appears selected in the dropdown menu in the report header.

To quickly replace the report text:

  • Select a different Template from the dropdown list.
  • The selected Template replaces the existing default and all report content.

Note

Only Templates categorized for the procedure associated with the report appear in the list.

Applied scenario

You're beginning to read a radiology report and need a chest CT template.

You search for CT chest in the Report Editor, but the system returns many results.

To refine the search, you:

  • Apply filters for Modality = CT and Anatomy = Chest.
  • Review the updated results, which now show only relevant templates.
  • Preview the correct AutoText and insert it into the report.

This approach reduces time spent scrolling and helps ensure that you use the correct template.

Accessibility and usability notes

  • Use clear, descriptive keywords to improve search accuracy.
  • Avoid overly narrow searches that return no results.
  • Clear filters between searches to prevent confusion.
  • Use preview before inserting content to reduce rework.
  • Use consistent terminology when naming AutoText to improve discoverability across teams.
