Edit transcribed text with audio playback
In PowerScribe One, the editor workflow centers on comparing dictated audio with speech-recognized text to ensure accuracy before finalization.
Audio playback and transcription
Dictated reports include an audio recording and a corresponding transcribed text version.
The editor reviews both together to identify discrepancies such as misrecognized words or missing phrases.
Report Editor interface
The Report Editor is the workspace used to review and correct reports.
Key components include:
- Audio player: Controls playback (play, pause, rewind, fast forward)
- Report content pane: Displays the transcribed text
- Navigator and fields panels: Show report structure and editable fields
Playback controls
Audio playback can be controlled using:
- A foot pedal (commonly used for hands-free operation)
- Keyboard or mouse controls within the audio player
Editing approach
Editors should modify existing text, not recreate the report from scratch.
Corrections are made by selecting and replacing only the necessary portions of text.
Procedural guidance

- Stop playback when you identify an error such as:
Select the text to correct.
- Highlight only the portion that needs edit.
- Avoid deleting entire sections unnecessarily.
Replace or insert text.
- Type the correct wording or insert predefined content (for example, AutoText if applicable).
- Ensure corrections match the audio recording.
Continue playback.
- Resume playback and repeat the review process until the report is complete.
Perform a final pass.
- Relisten to complex or critical sections.
- Check for spelling, clarity, and completeness.
Best practices
- Work in short segments to maintain focus.
- Use rewind to confirm uncertain phrases.
- Maintain the original clinical intent of the dictation.
Applied scenario
You open a radiology report that has been dictated. As you listen to the audio, you notice the system transcribed no acute findings instead of the dictated mild acute findings.
You pause playback, highlight the incorrect phrase, and replace it with the correct wording. You then rewind slightly to confirm the correction aligns with the audio before continuing through the report.
Accessibility and usability notes
- Use a foot pedal for hands-free control to reduce strain and improve efficiency.
- Focus on small sections at a time to reduce cognitive load.
- Ensure sufficient audio clarity by adjusting volume before starting.
