Responding to feedback

Completed

In PowerScribe One, attending feedback is part of the report review and finalization workflow. Residents create reports, send them for review, and attending radiologists review, edit, and sign or reject them.

Notes feature

The Notes feature lets residents and attendings communicate directly within the report workflow. Notes are attached to a report and provide a structured way to:

  • Clarify feedback from an attending.
  • Document questions or decisions.
  • Track communication without altering the clinical report text.

Notes are separate from the report content. This ensures that communication doesn't affect the official report while remaining visible to authorized users in the workflow.

Reject action

When an attending selects Reject, the report is sent back to the resident for revision. This indicates that:

  • The report requires more work before signature.
  • The attending might have identified issues with accuracy, structure, or completeness.
  • The resident needs to provide further clarification or learning.

The reject action reopens the report in the resident's Pending send for review queue. The resident reviews feedback, makes corrections, and resubmits the report.

Review attending feedback using notes

  1. Open the report that appears in your reporting queue.
  2. Open the Notes section of the report in the bottom pane.
  3. Read the notes your attending added.
  4. Identify specific feedback items, such as:
    • Content corrections.
    • Formatting or structure changes.
    • Clinical clarification requests.

Respond to feedback using notes

  1. Add a new note to acknowledge the feedback.
  2. Clearly document your response. For example:
    • Clarify your interpretation.
    • Ask follow-up questions if needed.
    • Confirm planned changes.
  3. Keep the note concise and focused on the report content.

Revise the report after rejection

  1. From the Explorer screen, select the desired report from the Pending send for review queue.
  2. In the Report Editor, update the report based on the attending's feedback:
    • Correct findings or impressions.
    • Adjust template or AutoText usage if needed.
    • Ensure clarity and completeness.
  3. Recheck the entire report for consistency.
  4. Resubmit the report.

Best practices to reduce rework

  • Address every feedback point before resubmitting.
  • Use notes to confirm unclear feedback before making assumptions.
  • Avoid editing only part of the report; review it as a complete document.
  • Use structured templates and AutoText consistently to improve clarity.

Applied scenario

A resident submits a draft report for review. The attending rejects the report and adds notes indicating that the impression doesn't align with the findings and requests clarification.

The resident opens the report, reviews the notes, and identifies the discrepancy. The resident adds a note acknowledging the issue and updates the findings and impression to ensure alignment. After reviewing the full report for accuracy, the resident resubmits it for approval.

Accessibility and usability notes

  • Use clear, direct language when writing notes to avoid ambiguity.
  • Focus each note on a single issue when possible.
  • Avoid copying large sections of report text into notes.
  • Review all feedback before making changes to reduce repeated edits.
  • Ensure that report updates reflect both clinical accuracy and structural clarity.
