This module focuses on setting up a training environment for the Store operations solution. It offers a structured and controlled setting that allows you to experiment with and gain hands-on experience in using Store operations.

Prerequisites

The prerequisites for deploying the Store operations solution are:

  • Licenses for Microsoft Power Platform

  • Microsoft 365 licenses for your frontline workers

  • Microsoft Teams licenses for your frontline workers.

  • Microsoft Power BI Pro or Premium license to set up the Retail Insights dashboard (optional)

  • A device that has a minimum memory of 4-GB RAM or more to run Store operations Mobile

Personas and scenarios

You assume the role of Oscar, the Global Administrator, and perform the following tasks:

  • Obtain a Microsoft 365 E3(no Teams) trial.

  • Add users and assign them specific administrative roles to complete exercises in this learning path.

Important

The Global Administrator role is an extremely privileged role that is meant to be a break glass account for emergency use. Allowing only the Global Administrator role to perform a task or use a feature can lead to a proliferation of Global Administrator roles assigned and forces an organization and its tenant to be overprivileged. Hence you must create alternative lower privileged roles and use those roles to perform a task or use the feature.

  • Add Dataverse and assign System Administrator role to a Microsoft Power Platform environment.

Then you assume the role of Hannah Travis, the Billing Administrator to perform the following tasks:

  • Obtain Microsoft Teams Essentials license.

  • Obtain Microsoft Power BI Premium license.

You assume the role of Reed Smith, with the System, User, and Teams Administrator security role to perform the following tasks:

  • Add users and assign them the licenses.

  • Deploy Store operations.

  • Assign the relevant security roles to the other Contoso Retail employees, within the Power Platform environment.

  • Import the sample data.

  • Update the loyalty account number for a customer account.
