Process mining

Completed

Process mining in Power Automate allows you to gain a better understanding of your business processes so you can optimize them. It can extract data from your systems and provide insights into how your processes are actually being executed, helping you identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.

Here are some things Process mining can do for you:

  • Improve operational efficiency: Identify bottlenecks and streamline operations to boost productivity.
  • Optimize resources: Discover opportunities for automation, reducing manual work and reallocating resources effectively.
  • Enhance customer experience: Eliminate process pain points to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance: Detect noncompliant processes and take corrective actions to avoid risks.

Solution architects should consider using the Process mining tool when they are gathering requirements and when mapping business processes. From the Process mining tab in Power Automate, when you select Start here you have two options you can start with, including Task mining and Process mining.

Process mining

Process mining connects to the data you use from a wide variety of sources and it provides a visual process map to help you gain insights. It can help you understand complex business processes across your organization.

Task mining

Task mining is a feature that helps organizations capture and analyze detailed steps of tasks performed on users’ desktops. It records actions involved in processes, provides a visual process map for analysis, and gives guided recommendations for your automations.

Visualize processes

The process map shows which activities take the longest, how many variations exist, and which variations and actions take the most time. It is a useful tool to quickly identify pain points and bottlenecks.

To fully view all of the available visualizations and analytics, you will need to incorporate Power BI.

The information provided through Process mining provides invaluable insight into updating processes or automations to help your organization move forward.
