When setting up an item for tracking, you need to assign an item tracking code.

An item tracking code specifies how serial, lot, and package numbers that are assigned to the item are tracked in the supply. Considering the requirements that a company might have, they can set up multiple item tracking codes to track items by their serial numbers, lot and/or package numbers.
