This module introduces social and emotional learning and gives practical ways to use Microsoft tools such as Minecraft and Flip to augment and enhance learning. Microsoft partnered with McKinsey & Company’s Education practice to release a research study, The class of 2030 and life-ready learning, which found that the learners of the future need social and emotional learning (SEL) skills to succeed in the jobs of tomorrow.

Learning objectives

  • Identify the value of increased emphasis on social and emotional learning (SEL) in the class, as established by research.
  • Use the CASEL competencies to plan for appropriate use of digital tools to enhance, support, and augment an SEL presence in the class.
  • Reflect on the application of SEL lessons and experiences in the class.
