Transfer items
A transfer order is the key object of the transfer functionality. With the Transfer Orders functionality in Business Central, a company can:
Create a transfer.
Post shipment of the items.
Post receipt of the items.
The Transfer Orders function contains information on how much is shipped and received in the same manner as the purchase and sales documents, by using quantity shipped, quantity received, and so on.
With the location transfer functionality, companies can make transfers manually and automatically. A company might need a manual transfer when a certain location lacks inventory and this inventory is needed to fulfill a sales order. In this case, an initiator (such as a salesperson) decides to move items from a location where the required inventory is available to the location in question.
