Practice activity: Use AI to write a thank-you message
Think about someone who recently helped you at work, school, or home.
Examples:
- A coworker helped you learn a new task
- A teacher explained something
- A classmate helped with an assignment
- A family member helped you solve a problem
- A job coach helped you prepare for work
Step 1: Choose a person
Who would you like to thank? What did the person help you with?
Step 2: Write a prompt
Imagine you are using Copilot. What would you ask?
Example: Help me write a thank-you message to a coworker who showed me how to use the copy machine.
Step 3: Write a follow-up prompt
After Copilot responds, ask it to make one small change.
Example: Make the message more friendly.
Step 4: Think about the AI response
After AI creates the message, answer these questions:
- What part of the message was helpful?
- Does the message explain what the person helped with?
- Does the message sound friendly and respectful?
- Is there anything you would add or change?
- Would you send the message? Why or why not?
