Reading Progress

Completed

The Reading Progress dashboard provides data from the usage of Reading Progress across your organizations. Reading Progress is designed to support students in building reading fluency and educators in monitoring student progress - it can also serve as an excellent resource for getting a benchmark of student oral reading, informing educators on the scaffolds their students' may need. From the Reading Progress dashboard, leaders can compare fluency across their organizations.

Identify

  • Which grade levels or classes have more struggling readers?

Reflect

  • Where does reading capacity intersect with engagement? How might developing fluency improve engagement or vice versa?
  • How can you distribute supports equitably? Which organizations need support?
  • Where does poor fluency intersect with other differences in your organization?

Discuss

  • Does there need to be additional curriculum around building reading fluency in your organization? How could fluency impact students' overall success?
  • What scaffolds do students need to be able to access grade-level content while they simultaneously work toward fluency?

Action

  • Implement scaffolds and accommodations to support students in developing the literacy skills they need without compromising content learning.
  • Schedule regular opportunities for students to practice and demonstrate their reading fluency.
  • Embed reading fluency into unconventional courses, providing opportunities for students to practice reading and content simultaneously.
