Before Dynamics 365 Commerce channels can be created and used, several prerequisites must be completed. Configuration of those prerequisites enables successful transactions in commerce channels.

Hierarchy types in Dynamics 365 Commerce are used for merchandising, pricing, promotions, reporting, and assortment planning. By using a category hierarchy, you can structure your products, and also set up and maintain product attributes and properties at the category level.

Dynamics 365 Commerce is an end-to-end merchandising solution that can be used to manage the product life cycle from creation to maintenance, distribution, and publishing through Commerce channels. Products and merchandising processes can be completed consistently by using embedded workflows and user interface pages.

Dynamics 365 Commerce has an omnichannel pricing engine that can be used across all Commerce channels.
