Configure email in Viva Engage

Viva Engage connects to email in different ways. Viva Engage uses emails to alert users to new activity in conversations they follow. Users can subscribe to groups in email, and post to conversations and groups by email. Do the following to make this work smoothly in your organization:

  • Email admins are responsible for correct email setup.

  • Viva Engage users can choose the types of email notifications they receive.

Initial setup: Follow Microsoft 365 email best practices

Follow the best security practices in Microsoft 365 for Business. If these configurations aren't in place, users might need to take extra steps to verify every message sent to Viva Engage by email.

Note

Your internal email administrator must manage email setting changes. Viva Engage admins and support can't help configure your mail systems.

Email settings users control

Individual users control the email notifications they receive.

Users can go to Viva Engage settings > Edit settings > Notifications and select which notifications to receive. They also might need to set their browser to allow notifications. You can do so in Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome.
