Opt into Viva Glint external benchmarks

To allow Microsoft Viva Glint users to view external benchmarks in reporting, Viva Glint Administrators can opt into external benchmarks. This action lets Viva Glint process your organization's response data for aggregated survey benchmarks.

Note

New benchmark creation is paused until all remaining customers of LinkedIn Glint are transitioned to Viva Glint. Expect benchmark refreshes to resume once a robust sample of customers migrates. The projection to resume benchmark updates is late 2025. Until then, all existing benchmark suites remain available to Viva Glint customers.

Why use the external benchmark?

For an initial survey, when no historical data exists, most organizations are interested in seeing how their scores compare to an external benchmark. The external benchmark is useful for admins to provide a meaningful reference point in assessing an organization's overall scores. External benchmarks are helpful initially, but as you begin to survey more frequently, internal trends and comparisons become more useful for making incremental improvements.

Tip

Use Viva Glint's global benchmark offerings and methodology for external benchmarking comparisons.

To opt into external benchmarks:

  1. Go to Configuration and choose General settings in Service configuration.

  2. In Reporting, go to External benchmarks and select Add external benchmarks.

  3. In the edit pane that appears, the external benchmark option is Off by default: Screenshot of the Select External Benchmarks slider window with consent turned Off.

  4. Review the external benchmark statement and switch the toggle to On to opt into and enable external benchmarks.

    Important

The consent to use external benchmarks agreement reads: "By agreeing to use external benchmarks, you authorize Microsoft to process your organization's Viva Glint survey content—including data collected through your use of Viva Glint—for the purpose of providing aggregated survey benchmarks to participating Viva Glint customers, including your organization. We will not identify your organization or reveal the content of survey comments in these benchmarks"

  5. Use the categories dropdown menu and the Search field to find external benchmark suites for your organization. Categories include:

    • Global
    • Industry
    • Regional
    • Country
    • Nursing Excellence (Magnet)
    • Specialty
  6. Select the checkbox next to each external benchmark that should be available to users in reports and select Save changes.

    Note

External benchmark suites are only available for admins to select when the external benchmark toggle is enabled.

  7. Edit benchmark selections after consenting and saving changes by choosing Modify external benchmarks.
